A 1936 Berlin Olympic Relay bearer's torch of polished stainless steel construction with the engraved inscription: "Als Dank Demtrager Organisations-Komitee fur Die XI Olympiade Berlin 1936. roughly translated: "Thank-You Organising Committee for the Olympic Games In Berlin 1936 XI" Also engraved on the handle is the route the torch bearer's took from Olympia, Greece to Berlin, Germany. The 1936 Olympics was the first of the modern Olympic era to have the torch relay from Olympia, Greece to the Olympic site. This torch was displayed at the Canada Sports Hall Of Fame. Includes the remnant of the base of the magnesium flare used during the relay.
